| BEST WAY DOWNTOWN:
The airport is located 22 miles (35 km) north of the center of Ljubljana.
There are taxis to meet incoming flights. The fare to the center of town will be from 2,500 to 3,000 tolars ($20 to $24). Make sure you agree on a fare before departing. It will take about 35 minutes for the trip to a city center hotel.
Adria Airways operates a very good bus service to the center of town. Buses meet arriving flights, have plenty of luggage space, and are quite comfortable. If you have missed the bus that meets your flight, go to the Adria Airlines welcome desk in the arrivals area and they will help you get another bus to pick you up. The fare is about 400 tolars ($3). Buses go to the central train station, and from there it is a very short taxi ride to your final destination in the city.
In fact, if you're mobile and traveling light, you may be able to walk to your hotel. For example, the popular Grand Union and Holiday Inn hotels are only 500 meters (1/3 mile) straight up from the central station. The bus trip to central station from the airport will be around 40 minutes.
Avis, Hertz, Eurodollar, Europcar, Kompas-Hertz, and Budget are represented in Slovenia. Some have offices in the city. If you have time, an excursion to the surrounding mountains would be a wonderful experience.
